Signs Your Garage Door Sensors Aren’t Working

You don’t want to wait until something — or worse, someone — gets crushed beneath your garage door to call for repairs on your garage sensors. Here are some subtle signs that your garage sensors are not working properly.

The Door Doesn’t Close

If your garage sensors sense that there is something obstructing the path of the door, they will not allow the door to close. Certain sensor systems won’t allow to the door to close at all, while other systems let the door start to close, but then stop it abruptly before closes all the way. If this is happening when the path between the sensors is clear, it is a sure sign you need to have your garage sensors repaired.

Lights Blinking

Most garage door sensor systems have lights that will blink to indicate that there is a problem. Sometimes they are installed near the garage door opener, and other times they are installed along the tracks that open and close the door. If you see these lights blinking, do not ignore them.
