Swing gates are one of the most elegant and timeless gate styles available for residential and commercial properties. They can make for a grand entrance to a private estate, a secure access point to a commercial facility, or a classic driveway gate that complements a home. A swing gate can be an excellent choice for a driveway gate if designed and installed properly to deliver both security and curb appeal.
Smart Garage Door Service has installed many swing gates for our residential and commercial customers throughout Denver Metro. We have experience designing and installing single swing gates as well as dual swing (bi-parting or French) gates.
Most commonly Swing Gates are hinged on the both sides of the driveway on 2 posts, opening on 1 side with a single panel, and a 2 panel opening up on both sides with both sides opening in the middle on dual swing or bi-parting or French gates.
Options include durable steel tube, ornamental iron for formal landscaping, lightweight corrosion-resistant aluminum, or natural wood.
A concealed solution for high end properties where aesthetic perfection is required, hiding all hardware beneath the gate pivot point.

Swing gates work well on a relatively flat driveway or slight downward sloping driveway. Since gates need to open up and have to swing in both directions, the driveway must have enough clearance in between where the gate will open and close to accommodate the panels. If your driveway has a slight to very downward slope towards the street and the gates are installed to open towards the house, then they can drag against the driveway surface as the gates open.
The swing gate is typically made of steel tube and can be finished in any color and even include decorative elements such as pickets, scrollwork and ornate details.
An ornamental iron gate is typically used on a property with a brick or stone house and formal landscaping. An aluminum gate is the lightest of the metal gates and is also naturally corrosion resistant, making it ideal for homes near water or in very moist environments. A wood swing gate offers a warm and natural look to your home, but requires more maintenance in Colorado’s climate as the sun’s UV rays and temperature fluctuations can cause the wood to warp, crack and fade.
